Due to COVID-19, many of our volunteer programs are currently on hold as we operate in a limited capacity. We are now accepting applications for new volunteers but will not be processing the applications until we have more openings for volunteers. Volunteers are important members of the health care team. They offer service and support to our patients, families and visitors while enhancing patient care and the overall experience at Eagle Ridge Hospital and Manor.

Please read the following information carefully before applying to volunteer at Eagle Ridge Hospital:

Adult Volunteers are over 19 years of age. Applications for adult volunteers are accepted in the months of January, May and September.

Teen Volunteers are 16-18 years of age. Applications for teen volunteers are accepted in the months of March and August. Applicants must be 16 at the time of application to be considered for the VolunTEEN program. 

A link to our online application form will be posted only during intake times.

Applications received outside of the intake times will not be processed until the following intake. TEEN and Adult applications are different. Please apply during the intake times for your age group as noted above.

Please note: It may take six to eight weeks to complete the application and intake process. If you need to be placed sooner, please check online for other opportunities.

Adult opportunities

(Over 19 years of age)

Applications are accepted for these positions in January, May and September.

  • Guest Services - main information desk
  • Main registration volunteer – assisting and directing patients once registered
  • Long term care volunteer - assisting with recreation and rehabilitation programs
  • Emergency room volunteer - liaise between patients, their families, visitors and staff, and provide general information and assistance to waiting patients.
  • VolunTEEN team leader –  be a liaison to Volunteer Resources and oversee, train and mentor TEEN volunteers
  • Dine & Dash volunteer –  you will visit with patients and assist during meal times
  • Pet Therapy volunteer visits -  your pet must be Pets and Friends or St John’s Ambulance certified prior to applying

Volunteers are selected for opportunities based on skills, experience and availability.

Position duties and schedules are available during the online volunteer application process.

Adult requirements

  • Minimum age: 19 years
  • Minimum commitment: A minimum six month commitment volunteering one shift per week for 2.5 hours
  • Proficient in English
  • Annual flu vaccine

VolunTEEN program (16 - 18 years of age)

Volunteering for the TEEN program is available Monday to Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. only. VolunTEENs work in some acute care areas and in long term care and are supervised by a team lead. 


  • Living in or attending school in the Tri-Cities
  • Parental consent
  • Annual flu vaccine
  • Minimum commitment: Six months (regularly scheduled two to three hour shifts once a week)
  • Proficient in English
  • Prior work or volunteer experience

  • Step 1 Application: Complete the application form
  • Step 2 Interview: Only candidates who qualify for available positions will be contacted for an interview
  • Step 3 Screening: Criminal record check and references will be requested
  • Step 4 Orientation: Attend a mandatory online orientation and an in-person orientation 
  • Step 5 Placement: Training and placement following orientation
